Admissions

Applicants to the Associate of Eddic Studies (A.E.S.) and Bachelor of Eddic Studies (B.E.S.) will be required to:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Hold a high school diploma or recognized equivalent
• Demonstrate sufficient English proficiency for college-level coursework
• Have reliable internet access, a current web browser, email, and a device capable of accessing the HIES learning platform, audiovisual materials, PDFs and e-books, written submissions, and required assessment and proctoring systems
• Complete required institutional and religious-program acknowledgments

HIES does not require a standardized entrance examination or minimum high-school GPA for undergraduate admission.

TOEFL or IELTS is not universally required. HIES may request reasonable evidence of English proficiency when necessary.

Graduate Admission

Admission to the Master of Eddic Studies (M.E.S.) requires an earned bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited or recognized institution together with sufficient preparation for graduate Eddic theological study.

HIES B.E.S. graduates with a minimum cumulative HIES average of 80% qualify for direct M.E.S. admission. Applicants holding a recognized bachelor's degree from another institution receive an academic review.

Applicants whose prior preparation is unrelated, insufficient, or uncertain may be required to successfully complete the noncredit HIES Graduate Foundations Examination before beginning MES 501. The Graduate Foundations Examination consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, is open-book, has a 120-minute time limit, and requires a minimum score of 80% to pass.

Transfer Credit

• The Associate of Eddic Studies (A.E.S.) permits a maximum of 30 semester credit hours of approved transfer credit.
• The Bachelor of Eddic Studies (B.E.S.) permits a maximum of 60 semester credit hours of approved transfer credit.
• The Master of Eddic Studies (M.E.S.) requires 100% HIES residency and does not accept transfer credit.

Acceptance of transfer credit is determined by HIES according to applicable degree requirements and institutional policy.

Transfer coursework must ordinarily have been completed with a grade equivalent to C or 70% or higher to be considered for transfer credit.

Online Learning

Instruction is being designed for online delivery through the HIES learning platform.

Students may expect:

• Moodle learning management system

• Structured online coursework

• Competency-paced learning with guided progression

• Public-domain books and educational resources whenever possible
