Programs in Development
HIES offers a connected academic pathway from foundational undergraduate study through advanced graduate theological education. Each degree builds upon increasing levels of knowledge, interpretation, character, and scholarly responsibility.
Associate of Eddic Studies → Bachelor of Eddic Studies → Master of Eddic Studies
HIES undergraduate programs provide a progressive foundation in the sources, history, language, ethics, interpretation, and religious traditions of the Old Norse world. The Associate of Eddic Studies forms the first 60 credits of the Bachelor of Eddic Studies, creating a fully integrated undergraduate pathway.
60 Semester Credit Hours
A foundational religious degree in Eddic literature, Old Norse religious history, ethics, language, textual interpretation, law, runes, archaeology, and sacred material culture.
120 Semester Credit Hours
A comprehensive undergraduate religious degree progressing from foundational study and interpretation through character formation, religious leadership, teaching, ministry, and stewardship of the Old Norse religious tradition.
Graduate study at HIES advances beyond undergraduate education through sustained engagement with primary sources and scholarship, theological interpretation, historical and theological reconstruction, religious leadership, ministry, and graduate research.
30 Semester Credit Hours
An advanced graduate religious and theological degree organized around Eddic interpretation, Old Norse theology, theological reconstruction, ministry, religious leadership, and culminating graduate research.
HIES programs are delivered through asynchronous online study. Courses include defined learning objectives, required readings and instructional materials, guided study, and graded assessments. Students progress by successfully demonstrating mastery of established course requirements while remaining subject to prerequisites, academic standards, and applicable completion periods.

The Associate of Eddic Studies, Bachelor of Eddic Studies, and Master of Eddic Studies are currently in development. HIES is not presently accepting applications or enrolling students in any degree program. Program requirements, curriculum, policies, and course sequencing may be revised before enrollment opens.
